Dataloy + StormGeo – Bunker
StormGeo – Bunker brings the power of advanced analytics to the maritime bunkering segment
About StormGeo – Bunker
s-Bunker is a cloud-based software program, supporting operations, charterers and bunker managers in planning and procurement of bunkers. Finding and chose the right port, volume and grade for bunkering, minimizing costs whilst taking all important matters into consideration, commercial and regulatory constraints.
Our team has delivered high-RoI solutions to blue-chip shipping and energy companies since 2008. With team members in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Singapore, we have proven expertise in marine bunkers, optimization, simulation, data analytics, AIS, and software development

Why StormGeo – Bunker + Dataloy
Integration overview and focus area
Bunkers typically represent upwards of 50% of a vessel’s operating costs. Deriving the best bunker procurement strategy is a very complex process. One must consider fuel prices, port calling costs, tank sizes, commercial schedule, fuel consumption rates, commingling issues, ECAs, and sailing margins, among others. In many shipping organisations, this complexity is aggravated by the fact that different departments hold different pieces of the puzzle.
The bunker purchasing desk will have a good view of fuel prices but perhaps does not understand the vessel schedule’s flexibility or the vessel’s consumption pattern. The operations desk understands the schedule well but knows far less about fuel prices and availability. The vessel master understands the current RoB and consumption rate better than anyone on shore, but may not have a detailed view of the commercial requirements of a voyage.
s-Bunker cuts through this complexity by bringing all the relevant information into a single platform where all stakeholders can discuss and align. BunkerPlanner leverages advanced algorithms and data analytics to identify the best bunkering plans and recommends the optimal location, volumes, and grades to be lifted for each voyage.
s-Bunker empowers operators and fuel purchasers to generate additional value for your fleet by crafting superior bunker procurement plans.
How it works
s-Bunker is integrated into Dataloy voyage management system via an API, from where it acquires vessel data, such as tank capacities, fuel consumption curves, schedules and much more. During daily operation, s-Bunker obtains the commercial and operational voyage details, including port calls, ETA, ETD, last position, Rob’s, redelivery amounts and much more.
s-Bunker includes all operational costs and bunker prices. s-Bunker uses AI and calculates ten thousand of models and shows the 10 best recommendations per vessel, which then are available in s-Bunker where customers can access and explore more individual solutions, create new drafts i.e.
Benefits to Clients
- Create alignment between operations and bunker desk in matters if bunker procurement
- Get tailored bunker procurement recommendations per vessel, taking important. parameters and variables into account

Gaining Ecosystem Advantage: Bunker Optimisation
Bunkers are the single largest and highly volatile operational expense for the shipping industry.
Efficient use of bunker and bunker costs are susceptible to performance-based improvements and have a direct impact on carbon emissions and the bottom line. Hence, aligning on a proper strategy and reducing those expenditures is critical for companies that want to create and sustain a competitive advantage.
One quick win would be to use technology to improve and optimize fuel consumption and purchasing.
So, how can you adopt a more deliberate, strategic, and data-driven approach to bunker management with technology?
Attend this webinar where Fernando Alvarez reveals how you can optimise your bunker procurement strategy while planning a voyage with seamless and powerful integration between Dataloy VMS and BunkerPlanner (now s-Bunker)
